Anyone ready for the heat of summer to be over? Hang in there, August is almost over! Here are some happenings to keep you moving, and to make your tummy happy for the next few weeks.

EVENTS

August Dollar Days continue at the Dallas Arboretum: $1 admission, $5 parking, and $1 admission to the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden, plus $1, $2, and $4 snacks!

Moonlight Mondays
August 7 & 14 from 7-9pm at the Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center outdoor pool. $2 per person (ages 3 and up).

Free Student Heart Screenings
Living for Zachary has partnered with Walgreens and Frontera to offer in North Texas through August 25. The screenings will be held at four designated Walgreens locations in Allen, Frisco, McKinney and Plano. There is a $50 deposit via paypal to reserve an appointment. This charge will be refunded/voided when testing is completed or if you notify us of cancellation at least 48 hours in advance of your testing date. The 20 minute testing includes an ECG, Echocardiogram and Blood Pressure Check.

Zip Line Day

Climb a 23ft tree to our zip platform then proceed to a 487 ft. zip line. Purchase one ticket ($12 each) for each time you would like to travel down the zip line. Pre-reservations required.

Kayak Power River Trip

Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Center

Art & Wine Walk
Downtown Plano
Thursday August 10, 5pm
Once checked in, attendees embark on a tasting tour of the Plano Arts District. While enjoying wine samples at each participating location, participants keep track of the locations they visit on their Art & Wine Walk passports.

Farmers’ Markets

  • Downtown: North parking area of the Plano Municipal Center on Municipal Ave. and Ave. K. Sundays 10am-3pm, year round. It’s recommended that you park at City Hall
  • Shops at Willow Bend: North (food court) parking lot of Willow Bend Mall (6121 W. Park Blvd) Saturdays 9am-2pm.

REGISTER

Registration for Park & Rec fall classes is now open. Swim, hike, dance, do tai chi and yoga, brush up on computer skills, paint, sew, kayak or learn to paint. 

PSA fall team sports registration is open for outdoor soccer, volleyball and football
