Introduction to Kayaking (13 Yrs & Up)
Kayaking is more than just a fun water based activity, its benefits encompass so much more! Come on out to the Oak Point Nature & Retreat Center to learn the basics of kayaking and the benefits it can provide. An American Canoe Association certified instructor will show you all you need to get started in this sport and become confident in your paddling skills! All gear and equipment provided. Must have swim ability to participate. Oak Point, Wednesdays at 10am, 1pm & 5pm, Resident $129

The Nature of Oak Point Park Guided Walk (4 Yrs & Up)
Walk along beautiful Rowlett Creek, through an old growth forest, or amble through a meadow of prairie wildflowers. The beauty and diversity of Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve will amaze you on this guided walk. Learn about the birds, plants, animals, and more, including their names, historic uses, and hidden secrets. Children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Please register if you plan on attending. Wednesdays July 12 & 19 8:30am, free

Hooked on Fishing (6-12 Yrs)
Get outdoors and come fishing with a TPWD Certified Angler Instructor at the Oak Point Park Nature & Retreat Center. Kids will learn the basics of how to fish, which may include casting, types of fish and their habitat, equipment, and safety. They’ll then take to the water to test their new found knowledge! Thursday, July 13 9am, Resident $5

Family Night Hike
Take an enjoyable guided evening walk through the woods at Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve led by a Texas Master Naturalist. Come identify native plants and wildlife habitats while learning about why it is important to protect our environment. Don’t forget your flashlight! Oak Point, Saturday, July 15 7:30pm, free

Fireflies (5 Yrs & Up)
Curious about fireflies? Come learn everything you want to know about these flashy critters and even try to catch a few that flicker around Oak Point Park! Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a registered adult. Oak Point, Wednesday, July 19 8pm, Resident $9

It provides an efficient, total-body, low-impact aerobic workout and is a great way to improve your fitness level regardless of age or current physical condition. It’s outside, it’s sociable, it’s fun, and it works the whole body! If you can walk, you can learn to Nordic Walk. Class will take place at the Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve. Equipment rental included in program fee. Wednesday, July 26, 9am & Thursday, July 27, 7pm, Resident $55

Arbor Hills Summer Adventure
Come out and explore the natural wonders of Arbor Hills Nature Preserve the first Saturday of each month! A Texas Master Naturalist will guide you along the way. Each month will be a different theme: August-Trumpets, Grapes and Poison: The Many Vines of Arbor Hills. Please register if you plan on attending.
