School is getting ready to start, which means pool season (at least public pools) is coming to an end. Several area pools celebrate by letting their pool go to the dogs! Here’s the scoop:
Wet Zone, 5304 Main St, Rowlett
Sunday, August 13th, 4-7pm
Hosted by Friends of Rowlett Animal. Kona Ice and other concessions for sale plus vendors and raffles. “In 2016 we had our biggest year yet, with 400 dogs showing up!” You must have proof of rabies vaccine by way of records or rabies tag. You must have release form filled out per person. Print and fill out your release form BEFORE the event to expedite your entry. $10/dog, free for humans
Dog Splash Day
Terrace Pool, 300 N. Lois Lane, Richardson
Saturday, August 19th, 11am-4pm
Designated areas for small and large dogs, entertainment, vendors and concessions plus rescue groups will be on site. Presented by Richardson AnimaLuv with proceeds going to the Richardson Animal Shelter. Proof of current rabies vaccination required. $5/dog, free for humans
Wags & Waves
Hawaiian Falls, 4550 N. Garland Ave, Garland
Saturday, September 9th, 10am-4pm
Costume contests, pet tricks, vendors, concessions. Separate areas for large and small dogs. Proceeds benefit several local animal-focused nonprofits. $22 for one human and up to two dogs. All dogs must have complete, up-to-date vaccinations, current rabies shots and be spayed/neutered.
Hawaiian Falls, 4400 Paige Rd, The Colony
Sunday, September 10th, 1-5pm
Dive in with your best canine friend and enjoy doggie swims, contests, games, and prizes. A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Colony Animal Shelter Injured Animal Fund. Concessions will be available for purchase. Limit two dogs per owner. $15 per human in advance, $20 at the door. Call 972-625-1106.
