If you’re looking for a spot to swim laps, or if you need a spot for the kids to burn off their energy when it’s cold (of you’ve had too much sun) the Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center is a great option. I took my kids last and they all had the best time!
There are two indoor pools – one for laps and one for fun. The “fun” pool has a lazy river (no floats), a giant slide (you have to be 48″ tall to go down the slide) and a small sprayground.
The slides, spray ground and river are not always open, and there are so check their website for times before you go.
If your child is six or under you have to be in the pool with them, within an arms reach. Older kids can swim on their own. There are several life guards around paying close attention.
The Lap Pool
The lap pool opens at 5am Monday-Friday, so you can definitely squeeze in some laps before work.
Before you get to the pool you walk through the bathroom/locker area. There are water fountains, a bathing suit drying machine, three family bathrooms, a huge wall of lockers (bring your own lock) and locker rooms.
They also have a birthday party room with windows that look out to the leisure pool. There are plenty of benches for adults in the kid area, and seats along the windows. Bring your towels, googles and pool toys (no floats, but other items are fine) and have a great time! They have life jackets you can borrow.
